MCS Solutions relaunched as Spacewell
Belgian building technology and consulting firm MCS Solutions, part of the Nemetschek Group, is now known as Spacewell. The rebranding exercise was announced on February 13 this year, in which the company unveiled its new name, logo and website.
“With the acquisition of Axxerion and the expansion of our offering, we felt the need to create a new, more encompassing segment brand,” said Koen Matthijs, Chief Division Officer for Nemetschek’s Operate & Manage Division and Spacewell’s interim Chief Technology Officer.
He added: “The name Spacewell evokes our mission to help companies create healthier, happier and more productive spaces. By connecting to the Internet of Things (IoT) and leveraging real-time data from sensors and user devices, building management is becoming much smarter. As a result, our clients can create better spaces, deliver smarter services and improve occupant well-being.”
Since 1989, the company has been helping clients worldwide improve the performance of their building portfolios. A specialist at tapping the power of building data, Spacewell can optimise facility operations and achieve bottom-line savings, in addition to creating workplaces with an infrastructure that supports new ways of working.
Spacewell is set to become a key brand for the Nemetschek Group, with offerings such as smart building product lines (Monitor/Assist/Transform) powered by the Cobundu™ IoT platform; MCS IoT-enabled IWMS, including a range of mobile apps for both FM teams and building occupants; as well as Axxerion workflow-based SaaS for property and facility management.
Spokesman and CFOO of the Nemetschek Group Patrik Heider affirms: “The launch of Spacewell is a milestone on our road to [becoming a leader in the building management segment]; it creates the foundation for further opportunities and will fuel the expansion of the manage segment. From a building life-cycle perspective, Spacewell is the final link for driving digitalisation through the entire building life cycle and closing the feedback loop from the usage phase back to building design.”
The company currently employs 300 people across 10 locations.
On April 1, Spacewell announced a new management structure. Spacewell’s current CEO is Eric Van Bael, a former HP top executive, who joined Spacewell in 2017 as VP Global Sales. Steven Lambert, previously Spacewell’s COO, was also named Chief Strategy Officer. Lambert now leads strategic initiatives and transformations of the Spacewell operations across multiple continents and is also focused on integrating newly acquired entities, including Axxerion, which was acquired in January 2019. Hans Verschuren, previously Sales Director at Axxerion, takes up the role of Chief Revenue Officer at Spacewell.
