Joint project of two BDNA members nominated in second RES Awards
Two of BDNA’s members — BINST Architects and Interalu — were involved in the design of Cordeel’s waterfront headquarters, which was nominated in second RES Awards.
BINST Architects was the architect behind the design and reflective Alucobond panels. The mirror panels were placed on the bottom of the building, above and between floors mirror the water and sky, create a visual extension of the building to the onlooker.
On the inside, climate ceilings from Interalu were installed to regulate cooling and heating. The adjustable ceilings ensure that employees have optimum indoor temperature, as well as provide good acoustics and light reflection for maximum comfort.
Standing 20m high and 100m across a former dry dock in Temse, Belgium, the eye-catching new headquarters of the Cordeel construction group is an architectural and technical feat of its own.
It comes as no surprise then that the impressive building was one of the three nominees selected in the second Real Estate Society (RES) Awards in the Best Development for Institutional Investors category, alongside Cera (winner) and Ryhove Urban Factory.
The category recognises newly constructed buildings that facilitate worker satisfaction and productivity, better health, flexibility, energy and energy and environmental performance of the area.
Completed earlier this year, the two-floor 1,200 ton building stretches 100m across the former dry dock of the Boelwerf and is supported on two 20m-high concrete structures, allowing workers a panoramic view of the massive dock. Read more here.
