The challenge in the competition for the new hospital was to merge two campuses into one. Priority was given to the new medical technical block which had to connect with the existing building. During the subsequent stages, two nursing blocks and one out-patient centre were created.
The interior design of the entrance was conceptualized to give a contemporary look to the complex, with an open area, roof lights and panoramic lifts providing a view on the courtyard below. The internal organization of the hospital was transformed by adapting the access to the hot floor and made clearer to patients by differentiating the colours and materials used for each department.
During construction, the challenge was to synchronize the renovation phases with the extension phases to prevent any disruption of operations in the exisiting hospital wings.
