Along with Coussée & Goris and consulting engineering firms Boydens and Ney +Partners, we saw the topography of the site as a challenge but also as a huge asset. The architecture benefits from the hilly landscape and plays with the surroundings providing a dynamic experience throughout the different seasons. The basic vocabulary of parallel lines and the use of earthy colours resonate as an echo to the land art and natural patterns. The design comprises a five star luxury hotel, a spacious spa, a Michelin starred restaurant and a recording studio. The 50 luxury villas and apartments are linked to the common spaces of the resort via concealed pathways. All different entities have been positioned to provide privacy to the guests and to offer them an exclusive seaview. Despite the abundance of activities offered by the resort, we wanted to convey to the clients a predominant feeling of ‘solitude on a hill’s crest’.
