|Project:||Masterplan for new city centre Nador|
|Project type:||Upgrade of the sea front and laguna, on a land formerly occupied by an airport|
|Project status:||Under construction|
|Surface area:||113 ha|
The challenge of this project was to transform a former plot of land occupied by an airport into a vibrant living and economic area embedded in a natural environment.
The new city centre and walkways are all designed around water which is the centre piece of the entire development. The laguna penetrates the city development enhancing the appeal of the new built hotels, commercial areas, restaurants, sports facilities and residential towers built around it.
The heritage of the former take-off runway, 1900 meters long and 80 meters wide, is meant to be preserved. This space will accommodate pedestrian boulevards, car lite communications and small parks to drive the city dwellers to this central spine of the new development.
